
Jessica Michelle Chastain (born March 24 1977) is an American producer and actress. Her films that are centered around the theme of women are her mainstay. She has been awarded numerous accolades such as an Academy Award as well as an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine listed her as one of the 100 most influential persons on the planet in 2012. Chastain started acting as a child. In 1998 she made her professional debut on stage in the role of Shakespeare's Juliet. After attending the Juilliard School, she was hired to a talent holding deal with the television producer John Wells. She appeared as regular guest on several television series and also played roles in various stage productions. After her debut in film at the age of 31, in the drama Jolene (2008), Chastain was able to make her mark in 2011 , with six films released that included the dramas Take Shelter (2011) and The Tree of Life (2011). Her roles in these films included the aspiring socialite and CIA analyst, she was awarded Academy Award nominations in The Help (2011) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012). The science-fiction films Interstellar (2014), The Martian (2015) and It Chapter Two (2018) were more commercially successful. Chastain was also praised for playing strong-willed women in the dramas A Very violent Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016) and Molly's Game (2017), and the television miniseries Scenes from a Marriage (2021). In the role of Tammy Faye Bakker, she won the Academy Award for Best Actress as well as Tammy Wynette in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (21), respectively. Chastain established Freckle Films to promote diversity in film production. She is also an investor in Angel City FC. She is vocal about mental health issues, as well as gender and racial equality. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo (fashion executive) is her spouse.
